A Fairytale Wedding in Tuscany

A borgo nestled in the hills of poetic Tuscany is home to a villa fit for fairytales. Il Borgo di Vignamaggio is located in the heart of the Chianti region and just under an hour drive from Florence. The historic property has been untouched for nearly thirty years but is now back to life with so much to offer as a restored luxe property and a perfectly eloquent wedding venue.

The fourteenth century estate features thirteen suites, an original frescoed chapel, a private theater for over one hundred guests, a ballroom, event spaces and more. Connected to the main estate is a stunning greenhouse that not only hosts lush, native plants but provides a panoramic view of the valley full of olive and century old cypress trees.  Not to mention, a heated swimming pool to top off a truly superior vacation experience. Crystal clear water set between the traditional Tuscan landscape with flowering blooms, is a glance away from the Ridolfi Bar. Guests are free to enjoy drinks and cocktails while taking in the illuminous sunset or a morning swim.

The villa interiors are delicately designed reflecting a timeless elegance, fit for Italian royalty. Each room, painted in warm colors was styled to give the storybook essence of an elevated fourteenth century Tuscany. Every room has a view of the rolling green hills and blue sky that pictures just cannot do justice. You will be taken back in time, with a twist of luxury.

A private barber and farm shop also live on the grounds selling products made onsite. With its own piazza, a traditional double staircase leads you from the main house to the flowering lime trees. The shaded terraces (yes, more than one) are another gem found on the property providing untapped romance under the pergolas.

Being such a heavenly escape, White Emotion was proud to plan an incredible wedding at the Borgo di Vignamaggio not long after its renovation wrapped in September. Originally from Amsterdam, couple Bella and Jake were torn between the legendary Lake Como and Tuscany for their wedding venue. After entering the Vignamaggio estate however, even when still under construction, they were sold. Bella and Jake fell in love with the new vibe the villa emulated and the richly enchanted atmosphere.

The wedding day brough great luck with a few showers which called for an indoor celebration. The ceremony was held in the glass windowed greenhouse and the reception took place in the grand ballroom. The international guest list of one hundred had attendees flying in from the United States, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom for the three-day wedding weekend. Hands down, the guest star of the night was Bella and Jake’s dog, Mochi.

The bride looked stunning in a floor length, floral applique, sheer gown for the ceremony and changed into a fun, feather trimmed mini with sneakers to take on the dance floor. The groom wore a traditional, white jacket tuxedo and bowtie. After an exquisite, candle lit dinner the party danced the night away bringing a beautifully historic villa back to life.
